Our Veterinarians Alexander Byron, DVM Dr. Byron graduated from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1976. He has been with Greenfield Animal Hospital since graduation. He also taught anesthesia and parasitology in the Veterinary Technician Program at Macomb Community College for two years. Dr. Byron and his wife have been married since 1975. They have three children (two are fellow Spartans!) and two adorable little granddaughters. The Byrons have a special needs Golden Retriever, Allie. Canada on property that has been in his family since 1798. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, reading and attending MSU football and basketball games. for their veterinary care. In 1984 he had his first job at Greenfield as a kennel attendant. Cleaning the kennels, feeding and caring for the animals in the hospital is how he got his start. From 1984 to 1986 while completing high school, he continued to work at Greenfield Animal Hospital. With some mentoring by Dr Byron, he went to Michigan State University, knowing veterinary medicine is what he wanted to do. After 3 years of undergraduate work and four years of veterinary school he returned to Greenfield Animal Hospital to work as a veterinarian. Since starting his career in veterinary medicine in 1993, Dr. Hood has come to realize he could not have chosen a better career for himself. playing basketball and golf in his spare time. Our Veterinary Hospital Staff Evie Fredenburg, Office Manager Evie has been a receptionist at Greenfield Animal Hospital since Jan 2001. She spent two years at Central Michigan working towards a degree in anthropology. She has 2 cats. Outside of work, Evie enjoys playing the bass guitar. When asked what she liked most about working here, she answered, "The the compassion exhibited to all animals by the entire staff. It makes me proud to be employed here." Tracy Deuel, LVT
Technology from Wayne State University in 1996. Tracy is very passionate about small animal anesthesia and surgery. She has two teenage daughters, 2 dogs, 6 cats (including one born with no eyes), a frog named Nelly, and a horse! She enjoys riding and jumping horses in her spare time. |

Jenifer Essex, LVT
Veterinary Technician program at Macomb Community College in 2001. Jennifer also earned a business communication degree at Rochester College of Business in 2003. Jennifer has 3 dogs and 5 cats (including 1 hairless and 1 with 3 legs!). She enjoys dog training and developing good relationships between owners and their pets. She loves working here because of the wonderful and caring staff. |

Sarah Schmidt , LVT
attended both WSU and MCC and holds her Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology and General Studies as well as her Veterinary Technical License. " I love the way our staff works so well with the clients and I really find the work rewarding", says Sarah. She enjoys playing volleyball, going to the movies and her 2 cats and 5 dogs. |

I currently have a Bach degree in Psychology and begin a masters degree in Clinical Psychology at Madonna University in September of 2009. I also enjoy skiing, music and spending time with my cat Wakko and my husband Jon. |

Our Grooming Staff
enjoy most about working at Greenfield is the mutual respect between the doctors and the rest of the staff. I received a certificate at the American School of Dog Grooming in 1988. At home I have 10 boy cats and a dog; Sherman, a two year old shepherd mix who came from the Humane Society. |

Greenfield Animal Hospital, it's a fun place to work. I've been around animals all my life and love being able to help out. I've volunteered at Almost Home Animal Shelter in the past. I am owned by 2 dogs, 2 cats and 4 birds. |


Lori Glaza, LVT
associates degree from an AVMA certified college was a dream. She loves becoming so close to the pets and families as they grow throughout the years. Lori is an avid music fan and has a passion for films. She also is the author of the photography book Silent Cities: The Cemeteries of Detroit. |

and currently have 5 cats. I attended MSU and have a bachelor's degree in Zoology and hope to one day be a veterinarian. I love Harry Potter and haven't missed a premier of any of the movies! |
